Under the patronage of Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University;
Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development;
Dr. Mohamed El-Ashhab, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine;
and Dr. Nermeen Adly, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development,
the Faculty of Medicine organized an addiction‑awareness initiative entitled “A Safe, Addiction‑Free Community” for students of the Faculties of Arts and Commerce.

The initiative featured the participation of Dr. Sherine El-Khouly, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology at the Faculty of Medicine, and was coordinated with Ms. Rania Moataz, the University’s Assistant Secretary for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the serious health risks of addiction and to encourage university students to adopt a healthy, addiction‑free lifestyle by:

  • Increasing awareness of the dangers of addiction and its health, economic, and social impacts.
  • Discussing strategies for addiction recovery and the role of community support.
  • Highlighting anti‑addiction policies and the importance of regulatory laws.
  • Exchanging experiences and offering practical advice to overcome addiction.

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, the president of Benha University, announced that students from the university's Faculty of Agriculture achieved advanced positions in the first Afro-Arab Agricultural Cycle, organized by the Faculty of Agriculture at Cairo University.
Prof. El-Gizawy congratulated the winning students in the events, emphasizing that the university administration is keen on involving students in all activities and student events, which work to refine their skills, develop their abilities, and enhance team spirit and positive competition among them. This supports and fosters the development of a well-rounded student personality and contributes to enhancing their thinking processes, preparing them to be future leaders.
Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hadi, the university's vice president for postgraduate studies and research, pointed out that the university's students secured first place in the field of artistic activity (singing), social field (social research), and sports (karate). The students also achieved second place in five-a-side football, the artistic field (wall magazine), and third place in the ideal student competition, community initiative, social activity, and artistic piece. She wished them continued success and achievement.
Afro-Arab Agricultural Cycle is one of the largest student events that brings together students from agricultural colleges across various Egyptian, Arab, and African universities.
