Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced that the university has achieved a distinguished position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, ranking within the 1201–1400 band globally among more than 2,200 universities from 118 countries, selected from over 30,000 universities worldwide.
At the national level, Benha University was placed in the fourth category among Egyptian universities, alongside nine other universities, within a total of 40 Egyptian universities included in this year's ranking.
Dr. Gehan Abdel Hady, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, explained that the Times Higher Education ranking relies on 18 performance indicators to evaluate universities across five key areas: teaching, research quality, research environment, international outlook, and industry income.
Dr. El-Gizawy extended his congratulations to the entire university community, including faculty members, administrative staff, and students, on this achievement, emphasizing that it reflects the university’s continuous efforts to enhance the quality of education and scientific research, strengthen its institutional and academic reputation, and increase confidence among stakeholders and employers.
It is worth noting that the Times Higher Education ranking introduced significant methodological updates in 2023 regarding the calculation of the Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI), dividing it into three sub-bibliometric measures designed to provide a more comprehensive assessment of research quality, in addition to several other refinements in the ranking methodology.
This achievement adds to Benha University’s growing record of success in international rankings, reflecting its commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in education, research, and community service.
