Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced that a university delegation visited the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in the city of Jelgava as part of the Erasmus+ Program activities, aiming to enhance academic and research cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of agriculture and food technology.

Dr. El-Gizawy noted that the delegation included Dr. Mahmoud El-Zaablawy, Professor of Crop Education and former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Safaa Halawa, Professor of Pesticides; and Dr. El-Sayed Ismail, Professor and Head of the Dairy Department.

The President of Benha University explained that the visit began with a meeting with Ms. Linda Braide, International Relations Officer at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. The delegation was then accompanied by Dr. Kaspars Kumpass during the visit, alongside academic delegations from several countries participating in the Erasmus+ Program, including Turkey, Spain, the Czech Republic, France, and Pakistan.

Dr. El-Gizawy added that the visit included a tour of a number of laboratories and facilities at the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology in Jelgava, allowing the delegation to learn about the university’s educational and research capabilities, as well as practical applications in agriculture and food technology.

The visit also included a tour of the university’s agricultural school, in addition to visits to several local farms to explore production methods for a variety of agricultural products and to gain insight into applied agricultural practices and experiences.

Dr. El-Gizawy emphasized that such visits reflect the university’s commitment to expanding its international partnerships and creating greater opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration among faculty members and researchers.
