Under the auspices of Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, the University's Anti-Violence Against Women Unit organized an awareness seminar titled "Domestic Violence and Its Repercussions on Society" at the Faculty of Education. This initiative aligns with the unit's efforts to promote societal awareness and combat all forms of violence against women.
The event was attended by:
• Prof. Nevin Abdel-Sabour, Director of the Anti-Violence Unit
• Prof. Mona Zaazaa, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education for Community Service and Environmental Development
• Prof. Ibrahim El-Ghoneimy, Head of the Mental Health and Special Education Department
• Prof. Hind Yahya, Unit Coordinator at the Faculty of Education, who delivered the seminar's keynote address.
Prof. Nevin Abdel-Sabour highlighted that the seminar was coordinated with Prof. Rania Moataz, Assistant University Secretary for Community Service and Environmental Development. She emphasized the seminar's focus on critical themes, including:
1. Forms and manifestations of domestic violence
2. Psychological and social impacts on individuals and society
3. Legal and legislative frameworks
4. The role of educational institutions in mitigating domestic violence
Prof. Abdel-Sabour further noted the seminar's emphasis on fostering awareness of women's rights within the university community and empowering women to confront violence and discrimination. She reiterated the unit's commitment to organizing programs that build a safe and supportive environment for women.
Students expressed strong appreciation for the Anti-Violence Unit's efforts, praising its role in promoting a culture of respect and equality. They stressed the importance of continuing such initiatives to strengthen awareness across the university community.
