Benha University Achieves a Major Breakthrough in International Publishing During 2025/2026 and Strengthens Its Global Research Standing

Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced that the university’s research performance and international publication indicators for 2025 demonstrated significant progress in both scientific productivity and the quality of published research, reflecting the university’s growing position among academic and research institutions at the regional and international levels.

Dr. Jihan Abdel Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, revealed that the number of internationally published papers in 2025 reached 2,009 publications, bringing the university’s total scientific output during the period 2021–2025 to 9,440 international publications, representing an increase of 682 papers compared with the beginning of the period.

In the area of international collaboration, the university achieved an international co-authorship rate of 64.7% of its total published research. The number of publications produced in collaboration with international institutions and researchers reached 6,106 papers, highlighting the expansion of Benha University’s global research partnership network.

Research impact indicators also showed strong performance, with the university achieving an average of 17.8 citations per published paper. In addition, the Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) reached 1.69 in 2025, indicating that Benha University's publications performed 69% above the global average impact.

Regarding the quality of scientific publishing, the data showed that 55.8% of the university’s publications appeared in Q1 journals, ranked among the top 25% of scholarly journals worldwide. A further 23.7% were published in Q2 journals, bringing the proportion of publications in the top 50% of global journals to 79.5%. Moreover, 94.3% of the university’s research output was published in journals ranked within the top 75% worldwide.

The annual analysis of the Field-Weighted Citation Impact also revealed notable improvement in 2025, with the FWCI rising to 1.69, compared with 1.35 in 2024, marking the highest level achieved during the past five years.

These achievements reaffirm Benha University’s commitment to strengthening its research capabilities and advancing scientific excellence. They also support the university’s vision of enhancing the quality of its research output, expanding international collaboration, and contributing effectively to global knowledge production.

Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the university’s participation in the Summer School organized by the University of Louisville in Kentucky, United States, as part of academic cooperation and the exchange of expertise between Egyptian and American universities.

The university’s delegation includes Youssef El-Seddiq Tarek, a student at the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, along with students from several Egyptian universities. The participants will take part in specialized workshops, scientific lectures, and research and cultural activities aimed at enhancing students’ skills and broadening their academic horizons.

Dr. Jehan Abdel Hady, Vice President of the University, emphasized that this participation comes within the framework of the university’s strategic plan to strengthen engagement with international universities and provide students with opportunities to learn about the latest scientific and academic developments. This, in turn, contributes to improving the quality of education and scientific research at the university.

Dr. Abdel Fattah Monged, Executive Director of the International Relations Office, added that Benha University has several agreements with the University of Louisville in the field of joint academic programs.

Benha University Opens Online Applications for Postgraduate Studies Starting July 1, 2026

Dr. Jihan Abdel Hady, Vice President of Benha University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, announced the opening of applications for postgraduate programs across various university faculties starting July 1, 2026, through the Ibn Al-Haytham Electronic Platform. This initiative comes as part of the university’s digital transformation strategy and its efforts to enhance services provided to students and researchers.

Dr. Abdel Hady emphasized the university’s commitment to providing a fully integrated electronic system that enables applicants to complete all registration and enrollment procedures efficiently and conveniently. The system aims to ensure transparency, expedite administrative processes, and save time and effort by minimizing the need for in-person visits to faculties except when necessary.

Applications are available for postgraduate programs offered by:

  • Faculty of Medicine
  • Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
  • Faculty of Nursing
  • Faculty of Agriculture
  • Faculty of Specific Education
  • Benha–Wuhan Graduate School
