President of Benha University, inaugurated the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon under the slogan "Innovating the Future of Healthcare"

Prof. El-Gizawy: We are keen to support digital transformation and achieve Egypt's Vision 2030.

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, the president of Benha University, inaugurated the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon under the slogan "Innovating the Future of Healthcare," which is organized by the university in collaboration with the Information Technology Institute (ITI) affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and will continue until February 11.

This event was attended by:

  • Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hadi, the university's vice president for postgraduate studies and research,
  • Prof. Taha Ashour, the university's vice president for community service and environmental development,
  • Prof. Shady Y. El-Mashad, the university's executive director of information and the general coordinator of the Hackathon,
  • Eng. Salah Abdel-Mohsen, the director of the Digital Egypt Innovation Center,
  • Mrs. Rania Motaz, the university's assistant secretary for community service and environmental development.

Prof. El-Gizawy expressed his happiness at hosting the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon, listening to the opinions and ideas of the participating students, and confirming that Benha University is committed to providing a stimulating and supportive environment for innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship by giving students the opportunity to market their projects and innovations.

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy explained that the Hackathon aims to support digital transformation and achieve Egypt's Vision 2030 by promoting innovation and encouraging creative youth in Egyptian universities and institutes to present their smart ideas and programming projects in various Hackathon fields.

Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hadi added that the "Smart Healthcare" Hackathon involves 35 teams representing 23 Egyptian universities in various Hackathon tracks, which include (artificial intelligence in diagnosis, remote health monitoring, mental health and wellness, facilitating access to healthcare, telemedicine solutions, Internet of Things for elderly care, and medical data analysis and presentation).

Prof. Shady Y. El-Mashad mentioned that the winning teams of the Hackathon will receive monetary awards totaling 175,000 Egyptian pounds provided by Benha University across 7 tracks, with the first place receiving a prize of 12,000 pounds, the second place 8,000 pounds, and the third place 5,000 pounds.
