The vision & mission

The Department of Mental Health at the Faculty of Education in Benha aims to:

  • Support psychological stability in the educational process by ensuring that student teachers feel secure in the present and confident about their professional future.
  • Achieve the highest levels of quality in psychological, counseling, and training services.
  • Provide the best psychological, research, and social services by receiving psychological cases, individuals with disabilities, and their families, applying psychological measures, counseling programs, diagnostic and treatment services, and specialized awareness.
  • Offer programs to prepare teachers psychologically, professionally, and academically, in accordance with continuous and effective development policies, and in light of the faculty's vision.
  • Support psychological and educational research by focusing on postgraduate studies in all specializations of mental health and special education.
  • Instill love, respect, loyalty, and belonging to the Department of Mental Health in light of the vision and mission of the faculty and university.
  • Improve the psychological environment for the local community surrounding the faculty by positively contributing with other community institutions working in the fields of mental health and special education (autism, intellectual disability, hearing impairment, visual impairment, learning difficulties, physical disability, and communication disorders).

The mission of the Department of Mental Health at the Faculty of Education in Benha is to:

  • Equip (student-teachers) with the knowledge, skills, and psychological attitudes related to their specialization.
  • Enable (student-teachers) to achieve proficiency in psychological knowledge, skills, and fundamental attitudes towards psychological theories.
  • Provide educational and psychological activities to achieve comprehensive and balanced growth for (student-teachers).
  • Offer practical training opportunities for (student-teachers) on the characteristics of students with special needs.
  • Train (student-teachers) in scientific inquiry, research, problem-solving, and addressing psychological disorders.
  • Provide an (educational-learning) environment that allows the use of technological innovations in counseling and psychological processes and train them to utilize these technologies.
  • Foster positive attitudes towards good citizenship, community service, and the belief in the teacher's mission.
  • Continuously monitor students during the educational process and even after graduation, as they continue their studies in postgraduate programs related to the department's specializations in mental health and special education.
  • Offer psychological and counseling training programs for those involved in the educational process, including teachers, senior teachers, deputies, principals, supervisors, and educational leaders at the Directorate of Education, to enhance their performance levels.
  • Provide opportunities for postgraduate studies for those working in the fields of psychology, counseling, clinical psychology, and special education.
  • Offer psychological and counseling services, and conduct psychological, social, and environmental research and studies for the community.
