The College of Education was established in Benha in 1976 AD as one of the colleges of Zagazig University, Benha branch. Actual studies began in the academic year (1977/1978). Study began with the first year in the university administration building, then the study moved to the old College of Education building (currently Physical Education). ) In the year (1979) with the rental of an amphitheater in the Muslim Youth Building in the city of Banha, then the study moved to the college complex building in the academic year (2000)،The study continued until a special building was constructed for the college in the college complex in Kafr Saad, and it was moved to in the year (2013). The new location of the college consists of (2) buildings, the first is the administrative building, which consists of (4) floors in addition to the ground floor and basement, and the second building is the terrace building, which consists of two floors in addition to the ground floor. In the year (2005)،A presidential decree was issued declaring Benha University independent from Zagazig University, so the Faculty of Education became one of the faculties of Benha University. The college includes five departments: foundations of education, educational psychology, curricula and teaching methods, mental health, comparative education and educational administration. The number of faculty members and their assistants is (174), and the number of administrators is (229). The college offers (12) teaching programs at the undergraduate level،They are (Arabic language teacher, English language teacher, mathematics teacher, biology teacher, physics teacher, chemistry teacher, philosophy and sociology teacher, history teacher) to work in the middle and secondary stages of public education, in addition to (primary Arabic language teacher, primary mathematics teacher). (primary social studies teacher, primary science teacher). The number of courses in these programs is (1024).Thus, the number of courses in the active programs in postgraduate studies is (245) courses. While there are (12) inactive diploma programs, the number of postgraduate students in the college according to the academic year 2014/2015 is (3219) male and female students.
