Benha University is taking part in the 12th African University Games "Cairo 2026," hosted by Egypt under the slogan "One Flame... One Continent." The event brings together over 2,000 young men and women representing 18 African nations alongside Egypt, with activities continuing through September 16.

The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports. They were joined by a host of university presidents, senior officials from relevant ministries, the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU), the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation (EUSF), and delegation members at the Velodrome in Cairo International Stadium.

Benha University’s participation takes place under the patronage of Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of the University, and Dr. Jihan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research. Expressing his pride in the students' participation in this major event, Dr. El-Gizawy reaffirmed the university’s full support for its students and encouragement for them to join various local and international events. He noted that such occasions offer a vital opportunity for building connections, sharing expertise, and gaining sports and student experiences.

The event features a variety of sports and recreational activities, student challenges, talent showcases, trivia competitions, traditional folk art performances, cultural exchange exhibitions, and a "Peace Marathon."

Additionally, the program includes artistic, cultural, and craft workshops, alongside shows featuring traditional Egyptian attire. These activities aim to foster engagement among Egyptian and African university students, enhancing cross-cultural dialogue and connection in collaboration with relevant Egyptian federations for sports, esports, and recreational activities.
